| Top Frequently Asked Questions |
| When will "XYZ feature" be added? |
A: DMX-3000 is a one-man effort, and not a full-time job. New features get added as time allows. |
| I’d love to try it out. Is there a demo version? |
A: Yes. Download DMX-3000 and try it out. The download version supports up to 24 DVDs. If you like what you see, you can register the product to get full functionality. |
| I don’t have MX-Editor. Can I still use DMX-3000? |
A: No. Currently, you’ll still need MX-Editor for MX-3000. |
| Is there a Macintosh version of DMX-3000 available? |
A: At this time there is no Macintosh version and no plans to create one. MX-Editor only runs in Windows, so DMX-3000 only runs in Windows. Although support can not be provided for this solution, many users have had success running DMX-3000 under VMWare Fusion. |
| What do I need to get started? |
A: You’ll need DVD Profiler 3.5, MX-Editor for MX-3000, and DMX-3000 2.0. |
| I’ve already got all my DVDs in DVD Profiler. Am I going to have to set everything up again? |
A: No. You’ll only need to add the Changer and Slot information for each DVD to your existing library. |
| How much is the upgrade from DMX-3000 1.x? |
A: Free. DMX-3000 owners get free upgrades for the life of DMX-3000. |
| My DVD library barely fit in my MX-3000 with DMX-3000 1.x. With all these new features in DMX-3000 2.0, with my library still fit? |
A: DMX-3000 uses some creative memory management. A typical collection in DMX-3000 2.0 uses slightly less memory than the same collection in DMX-3000 1.x. |
| I use more than one DVD changer. Can DMX-3000 handle more than one? |
A: Yes. DMX-3000 can handle as many DVD changers as you have memory for DVDs on you MX-3000. |
| Entering in DVDs is sort of tedious. Does DVD Profiler support any kind of bar code reader to speed things up? |
A:Yes. There’s a thread about this on the Invelos forum. Check out this link: Invelos Thread |
| My DVD changer does not have a serial port. Will DMX-3000 control it? |
A: Yes. DMX-3000 uses IR control (or whatever RF base station you use with your MX-3000.) |
| Does DMX-3000 support CD changers? |
A: Not at this time. |
| Does DMX-3000 support Blu-Ray changers? |
A: Not at this time, there are no readily available Blu-Ray changers. |
| How many DVDs will DMX-3000 support? |
A: It depends on how much free memory your MX-3000 configuration has. DMX-3000 provides settings to let you tweak memory usage if necessary, increasing the number of discs DMX-3000 can display. Many users have over 1200 discs in their DMX DVD Menu. |
| How often can I add new DVDs? |
A: As often as you like. DMX-3000 also has an option to let you manage how many movies appear in your “Recent Purchases” menu. |
| Can I create my own genres? |
A: No. DMX-3000 supports the standard genres included in DVD Profiler 3.5 and DVD Profiler does not allow for user created genres. |
| How does DMX-3000 handle movies with more than one DVD? |
A: Multi-disc movies are displayed normally by cover art, then provide a second multi-disc page where you can select the individual disc you want. |
| Does DMX-3000 work with any other remotes? |
A: No. However, separate DMX programs for other products may become available in the future. |
| Can I sort movies on my remote? |
A: You can sort alphabetically, by genre or, in the case of new purchases, from most to least recently added. |
| I’m having trouble programming my Before and After macros. Can you help? |
A: Changers are finicky. Even a sequence that works on one changer might not work on the same model of changer in someone else’s house if the settings of the two changers are not identical. There has been a lot of discussion about this on Remote Central. Check out the main DMX-3000 thread to see if anyone else has tackled your changer. We’ve started trying to compile a list of working Import Header files here at tripleBsoftware. If we gather a large enough library, we may be able to make setting up your macros as easy as choosing your changer from a list. |
| Can DMX-3000 display a menu of covert art on the TV screen? |
A: No, the DMX DVD Menu appears on your MX-3000 screen. |
| When I try to update my RCC file with new movies, it doesn’t work. What’s going on? |
A: DMX-3000 always starts from your Base RCC file, not the currently loaded file that has the DMX DVD Menu added. When you choose the Base RCC file in DMX-3000 2.0, be sure to choose your original file, not the one that DMX-3000 created (which ends in “_DMX.rcc” or “_DMX”). |
